Superfeet Re-launches Gender-Specific Insoles for High-Impact Sports
Enhanced Orange and Berry Models Feature New Foam and Shock Pad
Superfeet Orange for men and Superfeet Berry for women were originally launched in 2006 as the company's first Trim-to-Fit® insoles specifically designed to address the unique biomechanical differences between men's and women's feet and footwear.
Continued product development after the initial launch spurred Superfeet's Research and Development team to enhance the models to reflect the latest in material technology. "The first models utilized our long-proven Trocellen foam, but new breakthroughs in foam technologies allowed for different compound mix foams to be used in the new design," says Superfeet R&D Manager Ward Collins. The enhanced models are engineered to add even more comfort and shock absorption when running, walking or standing for extended periods of time.
The enhanced Orange and Berry feature a full-forefoot shock pad to provide extra comfort and shock absorption under the metatarsals and toes. REBOUND™, a new closed-cell, contouring foam, makes up the full length top. Like the rest of Superfeet's Trim-to-Fit® line, Orange and Berry include an antimicrobial-treated top cover by Agion® to inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria. The original shape of the products' firm stabilizer cap is based on the measurements of over 10,000 pairs of feet at sister company, Northwest Podiatric Laboratory in Blaine, WA. This gender-specific shape reflects the average arch length and width of women's and men's feet and footwear to provide ideal biomechanical function and alignment.
In addition to the changes in the foam and forefoot design, the company has also removed the original metatarsal dome from the Orange and Berry after tests showed that the feature was too personalized to include on an over-the-counter, mass-produced product. Collins adds, "If a medical professional prescribes a met dome, it should be added after purchase to make sure it is in the right location under the foot. The Orange and Berry are now even more accessible to different types of feet."
Superfeet's enhanced Orange and Berry Premium Insoles are now available at Superfeet dealers across the United States and Canada. To find a Superfeet dealer near you, visit www.superfeet.com.
